Sound and air

Quiet Enough to Sit Near the Take

No generator on the sound report

A petrol generator has to be parked a cable run away and still turns up in the audio. DJI rates the DJI Power 2000 at 29 dB1, and it produces no exhaust, so it can sit inside a location, a studio or a van.

Do the sound check anyway

That rating is DJI's, taken while recharging at 25°C. Under a heavy lighting load on a hot Malaysian afternoon the fans work harder. Check it at the level you will run it, and put it behind the camera line.

Flight Batteries Without the Brick

SDC is DJI's direct DC port. With the Inspire 3 fast charge cable it charges a TB51 in 28 minutes from 10% to 95%3, with no mains charger anywhere in the path. A DJI Power 1000 V2 holds about 9 TB51 charges and a DJI Power 2000 about 184.

Three Things to Plan Around

It is not water-rated DJI publishes no IP rating for the Power line5. On an exterior in the rain it lives under cover, off wet ground, and is never handled in standing water.
It cannot fly with the crew Cabin baggage caps a lithium battery at 100 Wh6, and the smallest station here is 1,008Wh. A TB51, at 98.8 Wh, sits under that line. For a fly-in shoot the station goes by road or is sourced at the other end.
Not in a parked van The storage range tops out at 45°C7. A vehicle parked in Malaysian sun between set-ups goes past that. Unload it.

The aircraft SDC fast-charges
  1. Measured in Standard Recharge Mode at 25°C. Reference only. Fan speed rises with load and ambient temperature, so do a sound check at the level you will actually run it.
  2. Continuous output, measured at 25°C discharging at rated load until the battery is depleted.
  3. DJI's published SDC Super Fast Charging time for the Inspire 3 TB51 Intelligent Flight Battery, 10% to 95%, over the Inspire 3 fast charge cable. DJI advises letting a flight battery cool after landing; a warm pack charges more slowly, and the last 5% is trickle charged.
  4. Station capacity less a 10% conversion loss — our assumption, not DJI's, the same one the power calculator uses — divided by the TB51's 98.8 Wh. Reference only.
  5. DJI publishes no ingress-protection (IP) rating for the Power line. Its specification sheets cover cell chemistry, capacity, cycle life, weight, dimensions, ports, altitude, output, input, operating temperature and wireless — water resistance is not among them.
  6. IATA and Malaysian carriers cap uninstalled lithium batteries in cabin baggage at 100 Wh without airline approval, and 160 Wh with it. Check the carrier's own rules before every trip.
  7. DJI's published storage range for the DJI Power 1000 V2 is -10 to 45°C.
